There’s good news on the jobs front in Kilkenny as leading animation studio Cartoon Saloon are set to announce 140 new jobs in the city.
The jobs at Lighthouse Studios – a brand new full service 2D animation studio – are coming about as the result of a new partnership between Kilkenny’s Cartoon Saloon and Canada’s Mercury Filmworks.
The joint venture, supported by Ireland’s Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland will create over one hundred & forty jobs over the next three years.
In the coming weeks, Lighthouse Studios plans to announce development and production projects, as well as a hiring initiative encompassing production management, designers, animators, effects artists, compositors, technical directors, 3D modellers, riggers, lighting and texture artists and IT administrators.
Jobs Minister Mary Mitchell O’Connor; Mercury Filmworks CEO Clint Eland; Cartoon Saloon’s CEO Paul Young and senior IDA Ireland executives will make the announcement at Set Theatre in Kilkenny city at 11am.
