160 accidents were prevented on rivers in Carlow and Kilkenny in July.
Irish Water Safety has released figures for the month which also shows that there were 3 rescues in Kilkenny and none in Carlow.
However, Carlow had the highest numbers of first aid given, accidents prevented and advice given to swimmers.
The total amount of rescues in July was 431 which are 146 less than last year.
Kilkenny woman Breda Collins, Chairman of Irish Water Safety, says jumping off bridges into rivers remains a big problem locally and causes a lot of injuries.
