Almost 170 social houses are to be ready for use in Carlow before the end of this year.
85 houses were completed in the county last year – 46 by the county council and 39 by approved housing bodies.
The largest grouping of those homes were 16 in Tullow, and 29 in Brownshill.
However, the number of social housing units that are due to be finished by the end of 2019 is significantly higher.
According to a report by the council chief executive, 167 will be ready for families to move into.
93 of those are being built by Approved Housing Bodies: 26 on Sleaty Street, six elsewhere in Carlow Town, 39 in Brownshill, and 22 in Ballon.
The remaining 74 are being constructed by the council: 63 in the Laurels in Carlow Town, two in Dereen Heights, four each in Myshall and Rathnapish, and then one in Kildavin.
12 houses are also currently vacant and are to be allocated to people.
