1916 Easter Monday Special

We’ve gone back to the local papers of the time – the Kilkenny People and the Nationalist and Leinster Times in Carlow – for Easter Week 1916 to give you an idea of what was being reported about the Rising the week it happened.

Every report you’re about to hear is based on articles in those papers – except for the mention of two local deaths which have been added in by us, given what we now know. So here it is. This is what would have been reported if local radio existed in 1916!
