A man is still being questioned by Gardai in Carlow following a dramatic high speed chase last night.
Gardai operating a checkpoint at Orchard in Leighlinbridge stopped a black BMW at around 8.30 last night.
The car which had been stolen took off at speed without warning and was followed by Gardai from Carlow, Bagenalstown and the regional response unit.
They chased the car through Paulstown and Gowran before arrested a 40 year old man and a 19 year old woman at Rathcash East between Gowran and Clara at about 10 to 9.
They were taken to Carlow Garda station for questioning – the woman has since been charged and released but the man is still being questioned.
