2 Carlow Schools are competing in the Junk Kouture finals

A local student says their design for the Junk Kouture competition came from her brother’s type 1 diabetes.

Ciara Carew was speaking to KCLR ahead of the grand finals of the competition which will be held in Dublin later this month.

Groups from Presendation de la Salle in Bagenalstown and Borris Vocational School are through to the finals – after creating wearable pices of fashion from recycled materials.

They are urging locals to log onto Facebook and vote for their creations, “you’re not my type” and “galactic goddess” respectively.

Ciara Carew from Presentation de la Salle Bagenalstown told KCLR their design was influenced by her brothers condition.
