2 due in court in connection with Leighlinbridge Post Office raid

2 men are due in court in Carlow this morning charged in connection with a Post Office robbery this week.

The pair were arrested on Tuesday following a raid on Leighlinbridge post office.

The postmaster there was threatened by 2 men – one armed with a gun and the other with a hammer.

They left with a significant quantity of cash and Gardai issued an immediate appeal for information via KCLR and their text alert system.

They quickly received reports of a car on fire near the Burrin Manor housing estate in Carlow and arrested 2 men a short time later in the Ballinacarrig area.

They are due before Carlow District Court at 10.30 this morning.
