2 Kilkenny Councillors admit fault in failing to declare property or commercial interests

Councillor David Fitzgerald says he will face any penalties that arise as a result of his failure to declare 2 properties he owns.

The Kilkenny Fine Gael representative is one of 2 local councillors mentioned in a report which came out of an RTE investigation into omissions by politicians in their statutory declarations.

He says it was an oversight on his part that he couldn’t explain as he had listed the 2 houses on the Bennettsbridge road in Kilkenny in previous years.

And he told KCLR Live this morning that he will face up to any sanctions.

Andrew McGuinness is the only other local Councillor to feature in the report for not declaring a directorship in McGuinness Secure Storage Limited.

He has since been removed as a director of the local company but says he knows he is at fault for not making mention of it.
