Emergency services personnel have launched their Bank Holiday weekend road safety campaign.
220 locations across the Waterford, Kilkenny and Carlow will have garda checkpoints in the coming days in a bid to remind people to take extra care while driving.
42 people have lost their lives on Irish roads already this year (the latest last night in Co Kildare) – three young people died in a crash in Co Carlow, one young man in Co Kilkenny with another losing his life in Co Limerick.
