Carlow and Kilkenny enjoyed a cash injection to their local economies last year after giving a “céad míle fáilte” to tourists coming here.
Fáilte Ireland figures show 267,000 overseas visitors came to Kilkenny in 2015, while Carlow had 62,000.
Of the 267,000 people who came to Kilkenny, a massive 85,000 came from North America while 52,000 came from Britain.
The bulk of visitors to Carlow came from Britain.
Fáilte Ireland says the visits were worth €32 million to the local economy in Carlow – while in Kilkenny the figure stands at €45 million.
