An examination of the scene at Market Cross shopping centre is continuing this morning following last nights fatal stabbing.
Its one of 3 scenes that have been preserved by Gardai following the incident which happened in the Holland & Barrett store at around 8.30 last night.
A woman in her late 20’s named locally as Mairead Moran died in hospital after she suffered serious stab wounds when she was attacked in the shop where she was working.
A 27 year old man was later arrested and is being questioned today at Kilkenny Garda station.
The shopping centre is closed currently as a Garda forensic team carries out its work there.
Mairead Moran is from Kilmoganny originally where her family run the local shop.
Local councillor Matt Doran says people are finding it very difficult to accept news of the tragedy.
