32 arrests were made as the Gardai made their presence felt in Kilkenny yesterday.
From early morning 120 Gardai were deployed and 23 planned searches were carried out in the city and county.
16 arrests were made for a range of offences and a further 16 people were arrested on foot of warrants – some of those have appeared in court already and others were taken straight to the Midlands prison
68 checkpoints were also set up around the county over the course of the day.
Meanwhile 14 horses were seized in the Wetlands area in an operation carried out in conjunction with Department of Agriculture officials.
Gardai say the animals were removed to a safe environment.
