More than 30 million euro is to be spent getting water and wastewater schemes in Kilkenny & Carlow up to standard.
Irish Water has revealed where the money will be spent locally.
In Carlow many of the wastewater projects are underway already with a major upgrade taking place for Tullow Hacketstown and Rathvilly at the moment.
Similar projects are under construction in Kilkenny in Johnstown and Freshford while additional schemes have been outlined by Irish Water under its plan for 2014-2016.
The company says 27 million will be spent in Kilkenny and 5 and a half million in Carlow on various schemes over the next 2 years.
Meanwhile senior official from Irish Water says it’s likely the Commission for Energy Regulation will benchmark what we pay for water charges against what consumers pay in the North.
The Government announced last week that the average annual charge per household is expected to be around 240 euro – but it’s now up to the CER to set the tariff.
