The latest figures released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives’ Organisation shows St Lukes Hospital had the 6th highest level of patients on trolleys through the month of July.
393 people were on trolleys at the local hospital last month alone.
This surpasses the national average by 34 per cent and is almost 3 times the number of people on trolleys there during the same period in 2013.
Just 2 weeks ago the local hospital was the busiest in the entire country with 30 patients awaiting a bed at the one time.
Speaking to KCLR then, the General Manager said there was no particular reason for the delays there other than the fact that an inordinate amount of people had presented at the A & E.
