41 areas in Carlow and Kilkenny to get high speed broadband upgrades

41 places across Carlow and Kilkenny are to get access to high speed broadband.

Minister Phil Hogan says these areas have been targeted for better connections in the hope that it can help with job creation.

27 areas in Kilkenny and 14 in Carlow are being upgraded.

The government say they want to invest in a fibre network to make sure rural communities are not left behind and major towns and cities have seen big broadband speed increases over the years.

In Kilkenny, some of the areas included in the scheme are Ballyfoyle, Ballyhale, Castlewarren, Clogh, Glenmore, Jenkinstown and Kilmagann.

In Carlow,  areas include Ballinabrannagh,  Ballymurphy, Bilboa, Clonmore, Corries Cross, Hacketstown, Kilbride and  Rathtoe.
