The cutting of a specially commissioned Proclamation Cake marked the launch of Carlow College’s 1916 Centenary Events today.
2016 marks a year-long celebration of Ireland over the past 100 years since the Easter Rising.
The Grandnephew of 1916 leader and Carlow-native, Quartermaster General, Michael O’Hanrahan was there to unveil a copy of the Proclamation.
There was a special reading of the document in both Irish and English and there’ll be music from Carlow Pipe Band.
The launch took place at 12 noon today outside the Carlovian Dining Hall in Carlow College.
