There were 86 homeless people in Kilkenny and Carlow at the end of August.
The figures were released by the Department of housing showing 73 people in Kilkenny and 13 in Carlow were homeless on the week of August 21st to 27th.
For the first time ever there are over three thousand homeless children in Ireland.
The figures make it the worst month for homelessness for children.
Overall there were 8,270 people in emergency accommodation.
Last year, there were over 3000 exits from homelessness into sustainable homes, in the first six months of this year 1 thousand 800 people came out of homelessness.
The government says they have 5.3 billion euro put aside for housing and homelessness plans out to 2021.
