Students protest & parents demand answers over Bagenalstown school closure

Students demonstrated outside Muinebheag Vocational school last night as a meeting to brief their parents on its planned closure was being held inside.
They gathered with signs and placards to deliver a message to the Kilkenny & Carlow Education & Training Board that their school is worth saving.
Last Thursday it was revealed that the school will close in 2018 once the current batch of students have finished their junior and leaving cert exams.

But parents demanded answers last night with many questioning why the Chief Executive of the ETB Cynthia Deane wasn’t present for the meeting.
Carlow county councillors have also called for the CEO to address a public meeting to explain the decision to close the school.
Time was set aside to discuss the matter at yesterdays council meeting with members in general agreement that they would fight to keep it open.
