Today’s the 100th anniversary of the Coolbawn Ambush.
Two Kilkenny IRA volunteers were killed in Castlecomer in the failed ambush at 11.15 a century ago in one of the last actions of the War of Independence.
There’s going to be a number of things happening locally to commemorate the event as Secretary of the organising committee Ger Comerford has been explaining to our Eimear Ní Bhraonáin on KCLR Live (listen to their conversation below).
