A local TD has called in the Dáil for the upgrade of the Clogh / Moneenroe Water Scheme as a matter of priority.
3,300 customers are served by the system which has had ongoing issues with discoloration and boil water notices.
Deputy John McGuinness raised the issue this morning before Minster Martin Heydon, outlining frustrations with the recurring problems and what he believed was the lack of progress saying much of the answers forwarded to him by Irish Water / Uisce Éireann in recent times are the same answers he’s been hearing for years.
Deputy McGuinness said the delivery of a water system is absolutely necessary, noting that the existing one is ‘not fit for purpose’ and saying people of the area ‘deserve better’.
And he asked Minister Heydon to call on Minister Darragh O’Brien to insist that the utility company ‘expedite to the point of delivery’ an upgraded scheme.
