House prices nationally have risen by almost 2% in the first three months of the year.
According to the latest Daft.ie House Price Report, though figures fell in the final quarter of 2023 they had risen across the country in Qs 2 & 3 showing an overall average jump of 5.8% in the year to date.
Tipperary was up 15% followed by Limerick at 12.6%, Waterford & Cork each at 10.6% while Kilkenny’s rose by 5.4% and it was a 3.1% increase in Carlow.
Meanwhile, the number of homes available to buy nationwide at the beginning of the month was below 10,500, down 24% year-on-year.
Economist at Trinity College Dublin and author of the report Ronan Lyons says the biggest increases were seen in rural areas noting; “In the year to March is an increase in prices nationally of almost 6%, on average 5.8%, that does hide some regional variations, so Dublin and the surrounding counties have seen typcially smaller increases, Dublin the increase is 3.2% over the course of the year but just more generally the rural markets have seen bigger increases”.
