An updated Heavy Goods Vehicle plan for Kilkenny City has been sent for public consultation, which aims to alleviate traffic issues in the City.
The original plan was deemed to be in need of revision following the completion of the new St. Francis Bridge in 2017.
Speaking to KCLR News, local Green Party councillor Maria Dollard advised people to engage with the plan while it is available for public consultation.
She said that Heavy goods vehicles had been causing problems for local residents.
“Heavy goods vehicles and their routes through the town are a constant bone of contention for people, because they do reduce the enjoyment of residential areas, for people who have to tolerate those big heavy vehicles.”
“You know, sometimes they’re going both ways, and they’re blocking the road, and they’re finding it difficult to pass each other.”
