Over 100 illegal firework offences recorded in Carlow and Kilkenny over the 20 years

Carlow and Kilkenny had 111 illegal firework offences between them over the past 20 years.

CSO data shows there were 4 thousand 193 offences recorded across the country, including 184 last year.

Limerick had the highest number of illegal fireworks offences with 336 offences.

Energy Efficiency Ireland carried out the study, and says fireworks can affect air and water quality and cause land pollution.
