The housing crisis looks like its here to stay for now.
The Department of Finance estimates it could last for another 15 years, with pent up demand easing significantly by the 2040s.
This could change if housing targets of 60 thousand units a year are met.
But Lorcan Sirr, Senior Lecturer in Housing at TU Dublin says affordability remains a huge issue: There’s a big difference between need and demand. There’s a greater need than demand and even if these houses are built not everyone can afford them. ”
