A plan’s afoot to address two unsightly buildings in Carlow town.
The county council’s erected hoarding in front of the structures at Shamrock Square which were heavily damaged by fire in 2008.
Independent Ireland Councillor John Cassin welcomed the Council’s move to safeguard the area, while expressing disappointment with the site’s increasing dereliction, telling KCLR News; “I asked at the municipal district meeting in Carlow in April that the county council would take action as a matter or urgency, it’s taken til now, November, which is obviously not good enough but at least it’s there now, it’s safe and as the County Manager has said that swift action will be taken; if the building needs to come down it’s gonna come down”.
