Funeral of Kilkenny mother of missing schoolboy takes place this morning

Alice Cairns, the mother of missing schoolboy Philip Cairns will be laid to rest today.

The Kilkenny native originally from Lisnafunchin passed away this week.

Alice and her family had campaigned tirelessly for decades in a bid to find answers about what happened to her son who disappeared as he returned to school from his home in Dublin in October 1986.

Her funeral mass takes place in Church of the Holy Spirit, Ballyroan from 11 o clock this morning.
