Henry Shefflin has stepped down from his role as manager of Ballyhale Shamrocks, bringing an end to his second spell in charge of the club as he prepares to take on a new challenge with Kilkenny.
The Ballyhale native is set to become the new manager of the Kilkenny under-20 hurling team, a move that signals a shift in focus from club to county duties. Shefflin enjoyed remarkable success during his first tenure with Ballyhale Shamrocks, guiding his home club to two All-Ireland titles and cementing his reputation as one of the most influential figures in the modern game.
However, his return to the Ballyhale sideline did not deliver further All Ireland silverware. That second stint came to a close following defeat to St Martin’s in last month’s Leinster club final, a result that ultimately brought the campaign to an end.
