Water levels are continuing to rise slightly in Graiguenamanagh while they are falling on the River Nore while Inistioge is now clear and open to traffic.
In Thomastown, one lane is open but it’s expected to open fully to traffic later on today.
Director of Services with Kilkenny County Council, Mary Mullholland is advising motorists to stay away from flood waters for now…
“We had a situation last night where somebody drove past the ballads to have a look at the flood and ended up being rescued from their car by emergency services. Please do not go and look at flood waters anywhere in the county this morning. They are unpredictable and dangerous, so please stay away from rising or even if you think the rivers are falling, stay away from flooded waterways.”
She says the situation is improving across Kilkenny but people still need to be vigilant…
“Last night we had flooding on the N25, so we do have localised areas where water has come out and will take longer than normal to recede, so people should remain vigilant to take extra time for your journeys, but hopefully the picture seems to be improving all around the county.”
