Gardaí are still trying to track down those responsible for what’s been described as a ‘serious’ incident in Carlow.
A man entered a retail premises on the Staplestown Road just after 7 o’clock last Friday evening.
Garda Niamh Doran told KCLR News; “He produced a hammer and made demands for cash from the staff, so after getting some cash he left the scene in the direction of Lower Staplestown Road”.
She adds that the suspect “Was dressed all in black, looking at it from CCTV, so look we’re requesting if anybody was in the Staplestown Road area, any dashcam footage between maybe seven and half seven or before, if they could go through their dashcam and our colleagues in Carlow would really appreciate any help with that and their number is 059-9136620”.
Meanwhile, Garda Doran says it’s not just staff in such a situation that are affected; “It’s an awful thing to experience, you know, it’s different for me, I suppose, when I work in it but for people in doing their shopping and getting their few bits and for somebody to come in and start roaring and shouting and making demands, and not to approach but also just to ring 999 if you see something and a car will be dispatched”.
