My Lovely Horse has reiterated its appeal for the setting up of a dedicated Garda Animal Welfare Unit.
Just a week ago members were called to Kilkenny to help save a pony which they believe showed signs of being been used in sulky racing and last night posted scenes from Clonmel in county Tipperary (see below but be warned before you views as there are some distressing scenes).
Added to that, there have been reports of such racing on the N7 in recent days.
The animal rescue team’s keen to point out that people from all walks of life take part in sulky racing due to the high amounts of money bet on the outcomes and they’d like to see authorities step in to provide a suitable arena for that.
In last night’s posting they ask “How many more times do we have to see this before something finally changes?”
