Gardaí in Kilkenny have pledged to continue to stamp out uninsured driving and other road offences.
They’ve issued the note below on their social media pages following yesterday’s revelation that 211,000 vehicles on Irish roads in 2025 were uninsured, one of the highest levels in Europe.
It’s not an offence to own an uninsured vehicle, something the Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Ireland wants to change with calls for Continuous Vehicle Coverage to be introduced. But it is an offence to drive one.
