Local fire crews dealt with a wildland fire on the Carlow / Wicklow border last night.
The team from Bagenalstown Fire Station was mobilised to the Raheendarragh area on Mount Leinster.
It came as the country’s under an Orange Forest Fire Risk Rating until Monday.

A spokesperson warns; “These fires can spread very quickly due to the land being so dry and with winds particularly in the evening aiding fast spread across large areas of land. The fires also damage local habitats and take Fire Service resources out of urban areas deal with them.
They add; “The public are also urged to remain vigilant and report any burning/fires to the Fire Service and to the Gardai via 999/112.”
KCLR News understands personnel separately dealt with a blaze at a yard in the Tinryland area too.
