95% of participants in an Irish Blue Cross survey believe dog fouling is a problem in their local area, with 63% claiming the situation has worsened over the past year.
The poll of 769 also revealed that seven in ten people are encountering dog poo on public footpaths every day.
Kilkenny Green Party Councillor Maria Dollard has told KCLR News that such activity is among the more persistent problems facing City and County Councils all over the country;
However Carlow County Council has seen a different trend with a reduction in the number of such incidents reported in the past year.
