Hospital parking charges have brought in €73million over the last five years.
€17million was earned from cars parked in hospitals around the country last year alone – we revealed earlier this year how close to half a million of that was at St Luke’s General Hospital for Carlow and Kilkenny, up by more than €63,000 on 2024’s income.
The overall national figure for 2025 is €10million higher than that in 2021, marking a 140% increase, according to the Irish Independent.
Despite a commitment in the Programme for Government to “explore further ways” to reduce the fees, most hospitals are still charging a maximum daily rate of €10.
