Motorists are being reminded to not take any risks on roads with all routes set to be busy for the Bank Holiday weekend.
69 people have lost their lives in crashes this year, including one young man in Carlow.
In a bid to prevent further deaths a nationwide roads policing operation is underway and runs until Tuesday (2nd June) morning.
For this you can expect a high-visibility policing presence across the country in a campaign focusing on speeding, mobile phone use, seatbelt offences, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Those set to get behind a wheel are urged to slow down, plan journeys safely and never drive while intoxicated.
