A judicial review into planning permission awarded for the Ferrybank Shopping Centre is due to take place today.
It was sought by Waterford City and County Council when the Dunnes Stores parent company was granted permission last year by Kilkenny County Council to redevelop the first floor of the development into a leisure area.
The premises was built in 2008 at a cost of €100million but has remained largely vacant since with just the area’s library and a local authority office there, though Dunnes Stores was confirmed as the anchor tenant about four years ago.
The new Chair of the Piltown Municipal District, Cllr Ger Frisby, last week told KCLR News when he took up that role that the issue he hopes is solved during his year term.
