Two motorists have fallen foul of the Kilkenny Garda Roads Policing Unit.
Personnel were conducting a lifesaver checkpoint on the M8 in Urlingford when they detected one motorist speeding – the vehicle was stopped and the person behind the wheel, who it’s understood was suspected of drug-driving, was arrested.
Separately, a 17-year-old was detected driving at 172km/ph and proceedings have commenced for dangerous driving.
In a social media posting, a Garda spokesperson says “With extra traffic volumes we encourage drivers to slow down, never drive under the influence of an intoxicant and ultimately, arrive alive!”
