The new EU migration pact means Europe’s now working more efficiently as one to try manage migration according to one Carlow Kilkenny TD.
The aim to have a single, streamlined system for those seeking asylum takes effect today with provisions including identity and security checks within seven days for International Protection applicants – those who don’t qualify for the asylum process will be returned to either their country of origin or a safe third country. Some Refugee supports say people’s rights are being trampled on for the sake of speedier procedures.
