A long-awaited road safety improvement scheme in the South Kilkenny parish of Tullogher has been approved by Kilkenny County Council.
The Part 8 scheme in Listerlin, better known locally as Mullinarrigle, will lead to the construction of a footpath running from the National School, past the local shop and taking in a nearby busy junction, the addition of two speed ramps and a new pedestrian crossing.
Local Councillor Fidelis Doherty, who proposed the scheme at the June meeting of Kilkenny County Council, said it’s a great development for the locality, telling KCLR News; “So in effect the priority road will be coming up the R704 and up by the shop and up to the school and the junction there will change slightly, so you have the R704 you meet the road then that’s going towards Glenmore and to your left then you have the road to Thomastown and in front of you is the road going up to the school and up to Ballyneale, it’s a very busy intersection for roads and this is a great day for road safety”.
