A Carlow Kilkenny TD is calling for a fairer salary system for Irish teachers returning from working abroad.
Speaking in the Dáil, Deputy Catherine Callaghan said up to 5,000 Irish teachers are currently gaining vital skills overseas.
She warned that the current inconsistent system unfairly penalises returning teachers by placing them on different salary scales.
Deputy Callaghan raised the issue with the Tánaiste and plans to work with the Education Minister to fix the system.
