Judging for the 24th-annual IPB Pride of Place awards gets underway locally this morning.
Four Kilkenny entries and two in Carlow have been put forward by our two local county councils for the competition which celebrates the efforts of communities across Ireland in creating supportive, sustainable, and welcoming environments.
Tullow and Ballymurphy will showcase their offerings later this month but today it’s the turn of Muckalee and Graignamanagh while tomorrow the focus is on Slieverue and Kilkenny city.
Adjudicators are expected to begin in Muckalee – our Martin Quilty will be there so stay tuned for that.
Chair of the Municipal District of Castlecomer Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick told KCLR News; “There’s a huge effort gone in by a local, voluntary committee, putting together the programme of events and it makes the parish vibrant, it makes the area vibrant, it’s alive, it’s a really passionate place to come to and to visit”.
