Carlow will receive €23,400 in funding towards access steps and swim shelters for the River Barrow and Bagenalstown.
This is part of a new initiative announced by the Minister for Public Health, Wellbeing and the National Drugs Strategy, Jennifer Murnane O’Connor.
Aim is to make outdoor swimming locations like rivers and lakes more accessible, enabling more people to enjoy them.
Minister Murnane O’Connor said “Outdoor swimming offers significant physical and mental health benefits, and this investment will help more people of all ages and abilities to enjoy these amenities in their local communities.”
