Hundreds of people have been gathering at Kilkenny Rugby Club over the past 24 hours for this year’s Relay for Life Kilkenny, which finishes at one o’clock this afternoon.
Organisers are encouraging people to come out and support the Relay For Life event which draws to close this lunchtime in Kilkenny.
Ten teams have been walking in relay since yesterday afternoon at the Kilkenny Rugby Club and have been walking right through the night for 24 hours in recognition that cancer never stops.
The event draws to a close at 1pm today and Relay For Life Kilkenny Chair Ellen Brophy is hopeful of a large turnout…
“We’d love for people to come along. We have had teams here since yesterday at 1 o’clock and they have been walking through the night and we would love to see some more people come out especially as we have our closing ceremony finishing up at 1pm, so it would be great to see some people.”
“We just have a few speeches, a few thank you’s, our teams gather around and we congratulate them for all their hard work over the last number of months fundraising for the Irish Cancer Society and then we will walk one final lap of the track together and it’s a wonderful moment just finishing off our 24 hours here.”
