Annoyance in one Kilkenny community over use of illegal fireworks

Gardaí are being urged to intervene in Callan following multiple reports of fireworks and bangers being set off weeks ahead of Halloween.

Local community platform VisitCallan.ie raised the alarm after receiving numerous complaints from residents, particularly around the Bridge Street area.

Pet owners have reported terrified dogs fleeing their homes, while older residents and young children have also been severely impacted by the noise.

They’re reminding people that the possession and use of unlicensed fireworks remains strictly illegal in Ireland, carrying heavy penalties and fines.
