Ireland is on course to break its longest heatwave record.
The existing 14-day record was set 50 years ago during the famous summer of 1976.
Yesterday (Friday) marked the 13th consecutive day of the current hot weather spell, with highs of 26 degrees Celsius forecast for this weekend.
Localised measurements reflect the intense conditions, with Carlow Weather tracking prolonged high temperatures at Oak Park, while Kilkenny—historically home to Ireland’s all-time record high—remains among the warmest regions in the country.
A Met Éireann weather advisory remains in place for the entire country and will continue until midnight on Monday.
