Carlow County Council is taking a major step towards a greener future with a €1.29 million energy upgrade of its headquarters.
Ryan & Lamb Architects have been appointed to lead the project, which is funded under the SEAI Pathfinder Programme.
The plans include solar panels, heating upgrades and improved energy efficiency to reduce carbon emissions, lower long-term energy costs and help the building achieve a BER B energy rating.
Speaking at the contract signing ceremony, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, Councillor Tommy Kinsella, said: “This appointment marks an important milestone in Carlow County Council’s climate action journey. As a local authority, we have a responsibility to lead by example in reducing carbon emissions and improving the sustainability of our public buildings. The retrofitting of County Buildings will not only improve the environmental performance of our headquarters but will also demonstrate what can be achieved through innovation, partnership and long-term planning. I am delighted to see this project progressing and look forward to its successful delivery.”
