A major new plan to protect and promote Kilkenny’s rich heritage will be unveiled today.
The County’s Heritage Strategy for 2026 to 2030 sets out 53 actions aimed at conserving historic buildings, protecting archaeology, tackling climate change and encouraging more young people to get involved in heritage.
The plan will be launched at Butler House following extensive public consultation.
Regina Fitzpatrick is Heritage Officer with Kilkenny County Council and told KCLR News’; “We’re hoping to be joined by all of the organisations that have been involved in the development of the strategy, but it’s also going to be the launch of the Kilkenny programme for National Heritage Week and we’re hoping that all of the heritage week event organisers will also join us as we launch that fantastic programme of over 60 events”.
