Commission of Investigation to be carried out into Children’s Health Ireland

A Commission of Investigation is to be carried out into Children’s Health Ireland.

A scoping report, carried out by Remy Farrell SC, has recommended a further inquiry into spina bifida and scoliosis services at CHI, which will be carried out in private.

Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill welcomed the publication of the report and says ‘the difficult experiences of families are evident throughout’.

Children’s Health Ireland says it has accepted the findings of previous reviews and audits, and will work with the Government and staff to ensure an efficient, fair and child-centred outcome to the Commission of Investigation.
