Carlow family of Martha Nolan O’Slatarra file wrongful death proceedings against the owner of the yacht she was found dead on

The family of a Carlow woman who was found dead on a yacht in New York last year have filed wrongful death proceedings against the boat’s owner.

Martha Nolan O’Slatarra who was originally from the Blackbog Road area but moved Stateside years ago where she was a successful fashion designer.

The then 33 year old was pronounced dead on the vessel docked at Montaulk Yacht Club on 5th of August 2025 – Suffolk County Police at the time said a postmortem examination did not show evidence of violence.

The Irish Times reports that her mother Elma Nolan has since filed legal proceedings seeking damages for the alleged wrongful death of her daughter.
