Ireland South MEP Cynthia Ni Mhurchú has called for an urgent overhaul of European medical device regulations to protect local innovation and patient safety.
She’s warned that red tape is leaving EU manufacturers falling behind competitors in America and Asia and regional producers simply do not have the workforce to cope with current regulatory burdens.
The Carlow-based MEP emphasised that updating the rules will boost internal markets and secure faster access to life-saving technologies without compromising on safety;
